Featuring a procession through history of regal choral & organ pieces
John Redford - Thomas Tallis - William Byrd - Samuel Wesley - George Frederic Handel - Charles Villiers Stanford - Hubert Parry - Vaughan Williams - Cecilia McDowell - John Rutter - David Bowie - Owain Park - Norman Morris - Coldplay
Featuring a majestic and diverse programme of choral and organ pieces - including favourites such as Parry's I was Glad, Handel's Zadok the Priest and Walton's Crown Imperial - Reading Phoenix Choir presented a musical celebration to mark the UK's first coronation in seventy years.
All of the music is by British composers and song writers, dating from the Renaissance period up to the present day. Many of the pieces have a direct connection to a royal event.
The concert featured two organ works, played by our former accompanist, Chris Enston and the regal power of the choral pieces was reflected to great effect in the organ accompaniment.
